Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial risk submissions across property, casualty, and specialized lines.
- Develop and maintain profitable book performance through meticulous risk selection and pricing accuracy.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with top-tier brokers to secure high-value placements.
- Collaborate with actuarial and claims teams to refine underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and participate in peer-review auditing sessions.
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to adjust underwriting strategies proactively.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and internal corporate governance policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting within a carrier environment.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of ISO forms, state-specific regulations, and loss modeling software.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume pipeline while maintaining strict quality standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and industry-standard underwriting platforms.
