Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and pricing.
- Manage a high-volume portfolio of commercial accounts, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with brokers and agency partners to expand business reach.
- Review policy documentation for accuracy, compliance, and regulatory adherence.
- Collaborate with the Claims and Loss Control departments to evaluate loss history and mitigate potential risks.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior underwriting staff.
- Participate in periodic audits and contribute to the refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience (Property & Casualty focus).
- Professional designation such as CPCU, AU, or ARM preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in insurance underwriting software and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
- Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, coverage forms, and local insurance regulations.
