Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial risks within established underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key brokerage partners to secure profitable business opportunities.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to ensure loss ratio targets are met.
- Collaborate with actuaries and claims departments to refine pricing models and coverage structures.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Participate in high-level client meetings to present complex risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to maintain competitive advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, specifically in Middle Market or Large Account segments.
- Professional designation such as CPCU, ARM, or AU highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in technical risk analysis, policy interpretation, and financial statement review.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable book of business and achieving growth targets.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Deep knowledge of ISO forms, state regulations, and current market conditions.
