- Manage a high-value portfolio, ensuring strict adherence to underwriting guidelines and loss ratio targets.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with key brokers and agency partners to drive new business acquisition.
- Conduct thorough audits of policy terms and conditions to minimize potential exposures.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex policy interpretations.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activity to adjust underwriting strategies effectively.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to refine pricing models for evolving risk classes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting within the US market.
- Proven track record of managing multi-million dollar books of business with profitable outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU strongly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Deep understanding of state-specific regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
