Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial risk submissions and determine insurability based on company guidelines.
- Manage a dedicated book of business, focusing on retention and profitable premium growth.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with independent brokers to secure competitive placements.
- Conduct thorough loss-run analysis and evaluate risk mitigation strategies for policyholders.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to refine pricing models for specialized commercial sectors.
- Mentor junior underwriters and assist in the development of regional underwriting standards.
- Maintain full compliance with state regulatory requirements and internal audit protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Active CPCU, ARM, or AU professional designation is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and insurance management software (e.g., ImageRight, Guidewire).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for high-level stakeholder engagement.
- Proven track record of managing a high-volume underwriting portfolio.
- Deep knowledge of ISO forms, state filings, and complex coverage analysis.
