Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance risks for middle-market and large-account portfolios.
- Manage a profitable book of business by applying rigorous underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Collaborate with independent brokers and agency partners to negotiate terms and conditions.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on policy endorsements.
- Evaluate loss experience and financial statements to determine appropriate coverage levels.
- Monitor industry trends to proactively adjust underwriting strategies.
- Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations and company governance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting (Property & Casualty focus).
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CIC are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of policy language, forms, and rating procedures.
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for high-level negotiations.
- Proficiency with modern underwriting software platforms and data analytics tools.
