Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance risks to determine policy eligibility and pricing strategy.
- Manage a high-value portfolio of accounts, ensuring profitability and adherence to corporate risk appetite.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to secure and retain profitable business.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and provide technical guidance on complex policy endorsements.
- Collaborate with actuarial and claims departments to refine underwriting guidelines and risk models.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust competitive positioning in real-time.
- Perform comprehensive policy audits to ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Deep understanding of commercial property, casualty, and umbrella lines.
- Professional designation preferred (e.g., CPCU, CIC, or ARM).
- Expert-level proficiency in risk assessment software and MS Excel.
- Proven ability to negotiate high-stakes renewals with broker partners.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills.
