Job Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a visionary Senior Cloud Architect to lead the digital transformation of our nation's largest integrated health care system. Responsibilities

  • Architect Secure Cloud Solutions: Design and implement robust cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • FedRAMP Compliance: Oversee and maintain compliance with FedRAMP High authorization standards, ensuring all cloud environments meet rigorous security and privacy requirements.
  • Migration Strategy: Lead the strategic planning and execution of complex migration projects, moving on-premise workloads to secure cloud environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain IaC templates using Terraform and CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment.
  • Governance & Cost Management: Establish cloud governance frameworks, identity and access management (IAM) policies, and cost optimization strategies to maximize taxpayer value.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and architects, conduct code reviews, and drive technical best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical role within the government or highly regulated industry.
  • Certifications: Active AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification; familiarity with Securing AWS/Azure.
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for Secret clearance.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and serverless computing.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
