Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, compassionate nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpret diagnostic data, and promptly report changes in patient condition to physicians.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for adverse reactions and effectiveness.
- Manage advanced life support equipment, including ventilators, IV drips, and cardiac monitors.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) of patient care, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in rapid response and code blue teams, demonstrating proficiency in emergency protocols.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with significant critical care experience considered.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent acute care experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Critical Care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent decision-making.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical technology.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining compassion and professionalism.
