Responsibilities
- Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients within the ICU setting, adhering to established protocols and standards.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment with meticulous attention to detail.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, IV pumps, hemodynamic monitoring systems) safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, residents, specialists, and other support staff, to formulate and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment plans, and discharge instructions in a clear, empathetic manner.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity, privacy, and the highest quality of care are maintained at all times.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations, utilizing critical thinking and advanced life support skills.
- Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs to enhance professional practice.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent acute care experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Critical Care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Proficiency in critical care procedures, medication administration, and advanced monitoring techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure.
