Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patient health status to develop and modify individualized care plans.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies and critical situations, utilizing advanced life support skills as required.
- Collaborative Care: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to ensure holistic patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital standards.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease management, post-discharge care, and preventive health measures.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance initiatives and unit-based committees to enhance patient safety and care outcomes.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required; PALS preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a hospital or critical care setting preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick, sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR) and medical equipment.
- Professionalism: Adherence to professional ethics and hospital policies at all times.
