Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient education
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans
- Monitor patient vital signs, lab results, and treatment responses with meticulous documentation
- Provide psychosocial support and education to patients and families throughout the cancer journey
- Participate in tumor boards and quality improvement initiatives to enhance care protocols
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards
- Mentor junior nursing staff through Mayo Clinic's structured preceptorship program
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Minnesota or compact state
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, MSN preferred
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification or commitment to obtain within 12 months
- Minimum 2 years of oncology/hematology nursing experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Expertise in chemotherapy administration and infusion therapies
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally sensitive care in diverse populations
- Strong critical thinking skills with experience in high-acuity settings
