Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes on the Medical-Surgical Unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and modify individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication management, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) of patient status, interventions, and responses.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergent patient situations, demonstrating strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, promoting a culture of safety and quality.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years considered.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent acute care experience, preferably in a Medical-Surgical or similar unit.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, maintaining composure and efficiency.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
