Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced cardiac care to critically ill patients including post-op cardiac surgery, acute coronary syndrome, and heart failure management
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans using evidence-based protocols
- Administer complex medications and interventions including vasoactive drips, temporary pacemakers, and ECMO support
- Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, and surgical teams during emergency situations and procedures
- Provide education to patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, medications, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EHR system while adhering to Joint Commission standards
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and unit-based research projects
Qualifications
- Active RN license in New York State with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in critical care with at least 1 year in cardiac ICU
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or certification in CCRN preferred
- Expertise in hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and rapid response protocols
- Exceptional critical thinking skills with ability to prioritize complex patient situations
- Strong proficiency in Epic EHR and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) techniques
- Commitment to professional development with ongoing CE credits in cardiovascular nursing
