As a Principal R&D Engineer, you will be instrumental in defining, leading, and executing critical research and development projects from conception through to viable prototypes and eventual product integration. Responsibilities
- Lead the ideation, design, and execution of complex R&D projects, setting strategic direction and technical roadmaps.
- Conduct cutting-edge research and experiments, analyzing results to inform future development cycles and strategic initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and a collaborative innovation environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and business development teams to align R&D efforts with market needs.
- Develop and validate novel technologies and methodologies, translating theoretical concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
- Present findings, project progress, and technical insights to internal stakeholders and external partners, influencing key decisions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and scientific advancements to maintain a competitive edge and drive innovation.
- Ensure all R&D activities adhere to best practices, safety standards, and intellectual property guidelines.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in research and development, with a proven track record of leading significant projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Robotics, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology, or Renewable Energy Systems.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB) and simulation tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with an ability to tackle ambiguous technical challenges.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience with intellectual property development and patent application processes is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
