Responsibilities
- Perform complex cardiothoracic surgeries including bypasses, valve repairs, and heart transplants.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of perfusionists, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the OR.
- Develop and implement evidence-based surgical protocols to improve patient outcomes.
- Conduct patient consultations and develop comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care plans.
- Participate in medical board reviews and clinical research initiatives.
- Mentor surgical residents and fellows within the academic residency program.
- Maintain precise documentation and ensure compliance with JCAHO and hospital safety standards.
Qualifications
- Board Certification in Thoracic or Cardiac Surgery.
- Valid Massachusetts State Medical License or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience in high-volume cardiovascular centers.
- Demonstrated proficiency in robotic-assisted surgical platforms (e.g., Da Vinci).
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing surgical departmental workflows.
- Commitment to academic research and ongoing clinical professional development.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient advocacy and family support.
