Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the health information management department, ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA and JCAHO regulations.
- Perform comprehensive audits of medical records to maintain data accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Coordinate with billing and coding teams to facilitate accurate reimbursement processes and revenue cycle management.
- Train and mentor junior staff on best practices for clinical documentation and system navigation.
- Manage patient requests for medical records in strict compliance with privacy laws and legal standards.
- Analyze health data trends to recommend process improvements for clinical workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Records Administration, or a related field.
- Certification as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred.
- Proven experience (3+ years) with EHR systems and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT).
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and privacy laws.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex medical data clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record software.
