Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Department (HOD) for Special Education to join a leading educational institution in the Central Region. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping the pedagogical direction of the department, fostering an inclusive environment, and driving high-quality learning outcomes for students with diverse needs.
As the HOD, you will lead a team of passionate educators, oversee curriculum development, and ensure compliance with SPED standards. This role is ideal for a transformative leader who balances administrative oversight with a deep-seated commitment to student welfare and teacher professional development.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Special Education department.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of SPED curricula to meet diverse student requirements.
- Mentor and coach teaching staff to enhance pedagogical skills and classroom management techniques.
- Monitor student progress, ensure data-driven instruction, and track IEP development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including parents, therapists, and external partners, to ensure holistic student development.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing requirements effectively.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines and school-wide safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Special Education, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or management capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of current SPED teaching methodologies and inclusion frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage relationships with staff and parents.
- Proven ability to develop and implement innovative programs within an educational setting.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Prior experience with MOE-accredited schools or institutions is a significant advantage.
