Responsibilities
- Manage Complex Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of complex UK Corporation Tax returns (CT600), Personal Tax returns, and VAT returns for a diverse client portfolio.
- Strategic Tax Planning: Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies, capital allowances, and inheritance tax planning to minimize liabilities while maximizing wealth.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure strict compliance with current HMRC guidelines, FRS 102 reporting standards, and internal audit requirements.
- Client Advisory: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on financial and tax matters.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior tax staff and provide guidance on technical queries and technical research.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and business plans that incorporate tax implications.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external auditors, bankers, and solicitors to facilitate smooth business transactions.
Qualifications
- Education: A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CTA, CIPFA) or equivalent professional qualification is essential.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in UK tax advisory or accounting, with a strong focus on compliance and planning.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation, including Corporation Tax, Income Tax, and Capital Gains Tax.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-specialists.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and tax compliance software (e.g., TaxCalc, VT, CCH).
- Professionalism: High level of integrity, discretion, and professional conduct when handling sensitive client information.
