Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary R&D projects from conceptualization through prototyping and validation
- Design and execute cutting-edge experiments in quantum algorithms and machine learning systems
- Develop novel materials and processes for next-generation computing hardware
- Collaborate with patent attorneys to document and protect intellectual property
- Mentor junior researchers and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Secure and manage external research funding through federal grants and industry partnerships
- Translate theoretical models into scalable commercial solutions with measurable impact
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (MS with exceptional experience considered)
- 5+ years of hands-on R&D experience in quantum computing or AI systems
- Proven track record of publishing high-impact research in top-tier journals/conferences
- Expertise in Python, C++, and quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq)
- Strong background in nanofabrication or semiconductor device physics
- Demonstrated ability to secure research grants (NSF, DOE, DARPA preferred)
- Experience leading cross-functional technical teams in startup or corporate R&D environments
