Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for oncology patients.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology-specific treatments following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment, manage side effects, and adjust care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medication management, and supportive care strategies.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for junior nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and institutional standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate holistic patient care and contribute to treatment planning.
- Advocate for patients' needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and quality of life throughout their care journey.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical experience in an oncology setting (inpatient or outpatient).
- OCN certification (Oncology Certified Nurse) highly preferred upon hire, or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
- Demonstrated expertise in chemotherapy administration and management of related side effects.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
