Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity nursing care to post-operative cardiac patients and those with acute cardiovascular disorders.
- Monitor hemodynamics and interpret complex EKG rhythms, titrating cardiac medications as ordered.
- Coordinate with cardiologists, surgeons, and respiratory therapists to develop and implement evidence-based care plans.
- Manage life-support equipment, including ventilators, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and CRRT systems.
- Serve as a clinical mentor to junior nursing staff and nursing students.
- Ensure meticulous documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR.
- Facilitate compassionate communication with patient families during high-stress clinical situations.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU, CICU, or CVICU setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification is highly preferred.
- Exceptional critical thinking, communication, and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to remain calm and decisive during high-pressure emergency situations.
