Are you a data-driven retail strategist with a passion for trend forecasting? Luminary Retail Group is seeking a Senior Merchandise Planner to join our flagship office in New York City. In this pivotal role, you will optimize our product lifecycle, drive profitability through sophisticated inventory modeling, and shape the seasonal assortments that define our brand.
You will work at the intersection of fashion and finance, partnering closely with our Buying and Allocation teams to ensure we deliver the right products to the right locations at the perfect time.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive seasonal financial plans for high-growth product categories.
- Analyze weekly sales performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for markdowns or replenishment.
- Partner with the buying team to finalize assortment strategies based on historical data and future projections.
- Manage open-to-buy (OTB) processes to ensure alignment with financial targets and inventory productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce out-of-stock scenarios.
- Develop standardized reporting dashboards to track KPIs including GMROI, sell-through rates, and inventory turn.
- Mentor junior analysts on forecasting methodologies and retail math best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Retail Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning or inventory management.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex modeling) is essential.
- Proven expertise in utilizing retail planning software such as JDA (Blue Yonder), Oracle, or SAP.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Deep understanding of retail math and financial metrics.
