Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes to medical records based on provider documentation.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness before coding.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal coding guidelines.
- Participate in regular audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on the latest coding updates, guidelines, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in acute care or physician office coding.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, specifically Epic or Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
