Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records and physician narratives to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
- Conduct regular audits of coding practices to ensure compliance with HIPAA and internal policies.
- Review and resolve coding queries from billing departments and providers.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to improve documentation quality.
- Monitor industry updates and coding changes to maintain current knowledge.
- Support training initiatives for junior coders and healthcare staff.
Qualifications
- Certification: CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, or equivalent certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive coding experience in a hospital or multi-specialty clinic setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner) and coding software.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
