Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
- Perform regular audits of existing codes to ensure compliance with CMS, AHA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries.
- Utilize EMR systems (Epic, Cerner) to input and manage coding data efficiently.
- Stay abreast of changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory updates.
- Mentor junior coders and participate in internal training sessions.
Qualifications
- Current CCS-P or CPC certification from the AAPC or AHIMA is mandatory.
- Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional medical coding.
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in revenue cycle management and healthcare reimbursement models.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
