MediCore Solutions is a leading healthcare technology firm dedicated to improving patient outcomes through data integrity. We are looking for a meticulous Senior Medical Coder to lead our coding department, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations.
As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will translate complex medical narratives into standardized codes, optimizing reimbursement and maintaining the highest standards of privacy (HIPAA).
Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to medical records based on clinical documentation.
- Perform regular audits of coding practices to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Review and resolve coding queries from providers to ensure accurate documentation.
- Train and mentor junior coders and healthcare staff on coding guidelines and best practices.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends and reduce claim denials.
- Ensure all coding activities adhere to internal policies and external regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CCS-P is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive coding experience in a hospital or physician practice setting.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements.
