Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Review and verify medical records to ensure accuracy before claim submission to commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare payers.
- Denial Analysis: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes and implement corrective action plans to reduce future rejections.
- Patient Relations: Manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to resolve account discrepancies.
- System Maintenance: Update patient information, insurance details, and billing records in our advanced EHR system (Epic/AthenaHealth).
- Compliance: Ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and payer guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the coding and collections teams to streamline the revenue cycle.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Health Administration preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of progressive experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Certifications: Active CCS, CPC, or RHIA certification is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines; strong knowledge of practice management software.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.
