As the Senior IT Systems Architect, you will serve as the technical bridge between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring that our systems are not only compliant with federal regulations but also optimized for performance and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end architectural design of large-scale IT systems, ensuring alignment with VA strategic objectives and federal mandates.
- Oversee the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud environments (AWS/Azure) while maintaining high standards of security and data integrity.
- Ensure strict compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, and HIPAA regulations throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teamsâincluding developers, security analysts, and operationsâto resolve complex technical challenges.
- Conduct architectural reviews and code audits to identify potential risks and performance bottlenecks.
- Develop and mentor a team of junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Masterâs degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT systems architecture, cloud computing, or software engineering within the public sector or a large enterprise.
- Deep knowledge of Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Proven expertise in designing hybrid cloud architectures using AWS or Azure.
- Strong understanding of microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly desirable.
