Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations spanning politics, business, and social justice
- Develop original story angles and conduct in-depth interviews with high-level sources
- Collaborate with data analysts to visualize findings and enhance impact
- Mentor junior journalists through story development and ethical guidance
- Produce multi-format content: long-form articles, video documentaries, and podcasts
- Build and maintain trusted source networks across industries
- Adhere to AP style and journalistic ethics while meeting tight deadlines
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional journalism experience with investigative portfolio
- Proven track record of breaking exclusive stories with measurable impact
- Expertise in FOIA requests, public records research, and undercover techniques
- Strong data journalism skills (SQL, Tableau, or similar tools)
- Ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
- Portfolio demonstrating excellence in written and visual storytelling
- Collaborative mindset with experience in team-based projects
- Journalism degree or equivalent professional experience required
