Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception to publication
- Develop and maintain confidential sources across diverse communities
- Produce in-depth written features and documentary-style video segments
- Mentor junior journalists through editorial workshops and one-on-one coaching
- Collaborate with data visualization teams to create compelling data-driven stories
- Represent Metro Pulse Media at industry conferences and public forums
- Adhere to strict journalistic ethics and AP Style guidelines
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional journalism experience with proven investigative portfolio
- Demonstrated expertise in FOIA requests and public records research
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with published long-form work
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Tableau)
- Experience managing editorial budgets and project timelines
- Strong network of industry contacts and sources
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred
