Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception to publication, utilizing FOIA requests, data analysis, and human sources
- Develop and maintain deep source networks across government, corporate, and community sectors
- Produce long-form narratives and multimedia content for digital platforms and print editions
- Mentor junior journalists through story development and ethical decision-making processes
- Collaborate with visual journalists to create compelling data visualizations and video documentaries
- Represent the organization at industry panels and maintain public-facing thought leadership
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional journalism experience with proven investigative portfolio
- Demonstrated expertise in public records research and data journalism tools (Excel, SQL, Tableau)
- Exceptional writing ability with published feature-length articles or documentaries
- Strong understanding of media law, ethics, and journalistic standards
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and project timelines
- Portfolio showcasing impactful investigative work with measurable societal impact
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
