Responsibilities
- Lead high-stakes investigations into corruption, public policy, and social justice issues
- Develop and maintain confidential sources while adhering to ethical journalism standards
- Produce long-form investigative pieces for print, digital, and broadcast platforms
- Analyze complex datasets and public records to uncover hidden patterns
- Collaborate with visual journalists to create compelling multimedia storytelling packages
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to investigative training initiatives
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and public forums
- Stay current with emerging investigative techniques and digital security practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of professional journalism experience with 3+ years in investigative reporting
- Proven track record of breaking major stories or impactful investigations
- Expertise in public records research, FOIA requests, and data analysis
- Exceptional writing skills with ability to produce clear, engaging narratives
- Proficiency with digital tools including CMS, audio/video editing, and data visualization
- Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and legal considerations
- Portfolio demonstrating depth and impact of previous investigative work
