Responsibilities
- Identify, pitch, and execute long-form investigative reports on high-impact public interest topics.
- Perform extensive data analysis, public records requests (FOIA), and field research.
- Conduct deep-background interviews with high-level sources and whistleblowers.
- Collaborate with multimedia teams to produce compelling digital visuals, podcasts, and video components for features.
- Uphold the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and legal compliance.
- Manage end-to-end editorial projects under strict publication deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in investigative reporting for a major news outlet.
- Expertise in navigating legal landscapes, including libel and privacy regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in data journalism tools (Excel, SQL, Python, or visualization software).
- Proven ability to develop and maintain a robust network of reliable, high-level sources.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into narrative-driven stories.
- Portfolio demonstrating successful investigative series or public-interest scoops.
