Responsibilities
- Develop, pitch, and execute high-impact investigative projects that move the needle.
- Conduct thorough interviews with whistleblowers, public officials, and industry experts.
- Utilize advanced research tools, including FOIA requests and data visualization, to substantiate claims.
- Collaborate with multimedia editors to produce engaging video, audio, and visual assets for digital platforms.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to the highest standards of journalistic integrity and fact-checking.
- Meet strict deadlines for both fast-turnaround investigations and long-term features.
- Represent the publication in public forums, panels, and media appearances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in investigative journalism at a national or metropolitan publication.
- Proven track record of producing deep-dive reports that led to measurable social or policy changes.
- Exceptional command of narrative storytelling and sophisticated editorial writing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, Excel, R, or Python) to uncover stories within large datasets.
- Strong interpersonal skills for managing sensitive sources and building long-term networks.
- Knowledge of media law, libel standards, and ethical journalism best practices.
