Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations from tip to publication, managing source networks and data analysis
- Produce original multimedia content including video documentaries, podcasts, and interactive data visualizations
- Develop and maintain confidential sources across government, corporate, and community sectors
- Collaborate with editors to develop investigative story pitches and editorial strategy
- Maintain strict adherence to journalistic ethics and fact-checking standards
- Mentor junior journalists and contribute to newsroom training initiatives
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and public forums
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of professional investigative journalism experience with proven publication record
- Expertise in FOIA requests, public records research, and data journalism techniques
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities across multiple formats
- Portfolio demonstrating impact-driven investigative work
- Strong understanding of media law, ethics, and First Amendment principles
- Experience managing complex projects with tight deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Proficiency with digital publishing tools and CMS platforms
