Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects with national impact, developing original angles and deep-source networks
- Produce compelling multimedia content including long-form articles, video documentaries, and data-driven visualizations
- Maintain rigorous ethical standards while navigating sensitive topics and confidential sources
- Mentor junior journalists and collaborate with cross-functional teams (video, design, analytics)
- Develop and maintain relationships with high-level sources across government, industry, and advocacy sectors
- Contribute to editorial strategy sessions and help shape the newsroom's investigative priorities
- Engage with audiences through social media, live events, and community forums
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional journalism experience with proven investigative reporting portfolio
- Demonstrated expertise in FOIA requests, document analysis, and source protection protocols
- Mastery of digital storytelling tools (CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, data visualization software)
- Exceptional writing/editing skills with ability to adapt tone for diverse platforms
- Strong understanding of media law, journalistic ethics, and libel avoidance
- Experience managing complex projects under tight deadlines with multiple stakeholders
- Portfolio featuring at least three nationally recognized investigative pieces
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
