Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception to publication, ensuring accuracy and ethical standards
- Cultivate and maintain high-level sources in government, corporate, and community sectors
- Develop data-driven narratives using advanced research techniques and FOIA requests
- Coordinate with multimedia teams to produce cross-platform content (video, podcasts, interactive graphics)
- Mentor junior journalists and contribute to editorial strategy discussions
- Represent the Chronicle at industry events and maintain professional affiliations
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional journalism experience with proven investigative reporting portfolio
- Demonstrated expertise in public records research, FOIA requests, and data analysis
- Exceptional writing skills with ability to adapt tone for diverse audiences
- Strong understanding of media law, ethics, and journalistic standards
- Experience managing long-form projects under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in digital storytelling tools (CMS, SEO, social media analytics)
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
