As a key member of our investigative unit, you will operate with full editorial independence, supported by industry-leading legal, data, and multimedia research teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, long-term investigative projects from initial tip to final publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of confidential sources across various sectors.
- Analyze large datasets and public records to uncover trends and systemic issues.
- Collaborate with multimedia editors to produce engaging video, audio, and visual data content.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, fact-checking, and editorial rigor.
- Represent the brand in public forums, interviews, and industry panels.
- Mentor junior reporters and provide constructive editorial feedback.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in investigative reporting at a national or metropolitan publication.
- Proven track record of publishing high-impact work that influenced public policy or public discourse.
- Expertise in FOIA/Freedom of Information requests and public records research.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with an ability to distill complex data into accessible stories.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data journalism tools (Excel, SQL, or visualization software).
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple long-lead investigations.
