Responsibilities
- Analyze complex insurance applications to assess risk exposure and determine appropriate coverage terms
- Develop innovative underwriting strategies for commercial and specialty lines
- Build relationships with brokers and negotiate policy terms
- Maintain compliance with insurance regulations and internal guidelines
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process improvements
- Utilize predictive analytics tools for risk modeling
- Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting approaches accordingly
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience
- CPCU or ARM designation preferred
- Proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
- Knowledge of NY insurance regulations
- Experience in property/casualty lines
