Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial insurance applications to determine risk appetite and pricing strategies.
- Develop and maintain a diverse portfolio of accounts while ensuring profitability and growth targets are met.
- Utilize advanced underwriting software and data analytics to identify trends and mitigate exposure.
- Collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and internal departments to resolve queries and negotiate terms.
- Mentor and coach junior underwriters, providing guidance on technical underwriting principles and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular reviews of existing policies to ensure they align with current market conditions and business objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks within the market.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial P&C Underwriting, preferably within the London market or Lloyd's syndicates.
- Professional qualification such as ACII, CII, or AIA is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, pricing models, and insurance products.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Proven track record of meeting underwriting targets and managing a book of business.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to negotiate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specific underwriting management systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek).
