Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain state-wide cybersecurity policies, standards, and guidelines aligned with NIST frameworks.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for state agencies to identify vulnerabilities in legacy and cloud systems.
- Lead cross-functional task forces to respond to emerging cyber threats and legislative mandates.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex security requirements into actionable policy language.
- Perform continuous monitoring of compliance metrics to ensure adherence to state and federal security regulations.
- Deliver briefings to executive leadership on security posture and resource allocation requirements.
- Mentor junior analysts in best practices for public sector risk management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Public Policy, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, risk management, or technical policy analysis.
- Deep understanding of NIST 800-53, FISMA, and state-level data privacy regulations.
- Proven ability to write technical documentation and policies for diverse, non-technical audiences.
- Active industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret security logs and threat intelligence reports.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus among department heads.
