Responsibilities
- Develop and refine comprehensive cybersecurity policies, standards, and guidelines for federal information systems.
- Conduct risk assessments on emerging technologies and provide strategic mitigation recommendations to leadership.
- Lead cross-departmental coordination to ensure compliance with NIST and FISMA frameworks.
- Draft technical reports and policy briefings for legislative stakeholders and government agencies.
- Monitor threat intelligence trends to proactively update defensive protocols across public networks.
- Collaborate with IT engineering teams to implement security-by-design principles in cloud infrastructure projects.
- Facilitate incident response tabletop exercises for government department heads.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity policy, compliance, or information assurance.
- Deep understanding of NIST, FISMA, HIPAA, and GDPR regulatory frameworks.
- Proven track record of translating complex technical threats into actionable policy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience briefing high-level officials.
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Professional certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC is highly desirable.
