Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial property and casualty risks to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a diverse book of business, focusing on retention and profitable new business acquisition.
- Analyze financial statements, loss runs, and inspection reports to determine risk appetite.
- Collaborate with agency partners to negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing structures.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and participate in peer review sessions to ensure compliance.
- Utilize advanced predictive analytics tools to enhance decision-making accuracy.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences and regional broker networking events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting (Mid-Market or Large Account preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ISO forms, state regulations, and policy structure.
- Proven ability to manage a profitable multi-million dollar book of business.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a client-centric mindset.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Proficiency in standard underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
