Responsibilities
- Analyze, evaluate, and price complex commercial lines risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a book of business by building and maintaining strong relationships with key insurance brokers.
- Collaborate with the actuarial and product development teams to refine pricing strategies and product offerings.
- Review policy documentation for accuracy and ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and provide technical guidance on complex coverage disputes.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust underwriting strategies proactively.
- Conduct regular site visits and risk assessments for high-value commercial accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting (Property/Casualty focus).
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of commercial insurance forms, rating plans, and market dynamics.
- Proven ability to negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and agents.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized underwriting software.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
