Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial risks, ensuring alignment with corporate underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a multi-million dollar book of business, focusing on profitability and retention metrics.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with top-tier brokers to secure competitive and profitable placement.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and contribute to the development of internal training modules.
- Collaborate with risk control and claims departments to improve client loss ratios.
- Prepare comprehensive risk assessments and present findings to senior leadership for large account approvals.
- Identify emerging market trends and adjust underwriting appetite accordingly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, specifically in P&C.
- Professional designation such as CPCU, ARM, or AU preferred.
- Exceptional analytical skills with proficiency in industry-standard actuarial modeling tools.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with an established broker network in the Northeast.
- Deep knowledge of policy forms, manual rules, and state-specific regulatory requirements.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a focus on meticulous accuracy.
