Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial risks across diverse industries including manufacturing, healthcare, and tech startups
- Underwrite policies up to $10M with precise risk assessment methodologies
- Develop innovative insurance products addressing emerging market needs
- Maintain profitable portfolios through regular risk reviews and portfolio optimization
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to design customized risk mitigation strategies
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to departmental process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with proven portfolio management
- Expertise in property/casualty lines and regulatory compliance (IL requirements)
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- CPCU, ARM, or CIC designation preferred
- Exceptional communication skills for complex client negotiations
