Responsibilities
- Manage pre- and post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients.
- Conduct thorough daily rounds and formulate patient treatment plans in coordination with the surgical team.
- Perform bedside diagnostic procedures, including arterial line insertion and chest tube management.
- Interpret complex diagnostic data including EKGs, echocardiograms, and cardiac catheterization reports.
- Educate patients and their families on long-term cardiac health and post-discharge protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and reduce length of stay.
- Maintain precise medical documentation in compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing.
- Master’s degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a cardiovascular or ICU setting.
- AANP or ANCC board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Proven ability to function effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced medical environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and dedication to collaborative patient-centered care.
