Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and diagnostic evaluations for cardiac patients.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care plans in collaboration with cardiovascular surgeons.
- Interpret complex diagnostic tests, including EKGs, echocardiograms, and cardiac stress tests.
- Coordinate transitions of care for patients moving from ICU to step-down units.
- Provide patient and family education regarding medication management and lifestyle modifications.
- Document clinical encounters accurately in the EMR system to ensure compliance.
- Mentor junior clinical staff and participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
- Current, unencumbered Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Board Certification in Acute Care or Family Practice.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a cardiovascular or cardiothoracic setting.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN is highly preferred.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in Epic or similar electronic medical record systems.
