Responsibilities
- Assessment & Monitoring: Continuously assess patient health status, including vital signs and symptoms, to promptly identify changes that may indicate medical emergencies or deterioration.
- Medication Administration: Accurately administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, strictly adhering to safety protocols and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Critical Care Interventions: Perform complex life-saving interventions and emergency procedures during medical crises using advanced critical care equipment.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed medical records and patient notes in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on post-discharge care plans, disease management, and lifestyle adjustments to promote recovery.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in hospital quality assurance programs and continuous professional development activities to improve clinical outcomes.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Critical Care Unit (ICU) or similar high-acuity setting.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift patients, and perform physical tasks as required by the job description.
